Madison Mallards News Release

Madison, Wis. - The Madison Mallards (16-11, 44-19) look to stay perfect against the Lakeshore Chinooks (11-16, 27-35) tonight at Kapco Park at 6:35 PM. After a 15-5 blowout win last night, the Mallards have the chance to go 8-0 against Lakeshore this summer. Madison's magic number to clinch the overall South Division title sits at four with the Mallards holding a 6.0 game over the Kalamazoo Growlers.

After tonight's game, the Mallards return to Madison tomorrow night to take on the Kenosha Kingfish at the Duck Pond at 6:05 PM for Star Wars Night. The game features a custom jersey auction by Dentistry for Madison: Dr. Jay Hazen benefiting DAIS. Also, it is Stoddard's Country Grove Market Meat Raffle and Brat Appreciation Night.

Probable Pitchers

The Mallards are scheduled to start Marietta righty Dalton Wiggins tonight in Lakeshore. Wiggins will be making his ninth start of the summer and currently holds a 2.92 ERA and a 4-3 record. Wiggins was one of eight Mallards to be featured in the NWL All-Star Game last month. The righty has walked only seven and allowed just 32 hits through 40.0 innings on the mound this summer. Wiggins has yet to pitch against the Chinooks this summer.

Players to Watch

Infielder David Vinsky (Northwood) extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a pair of hits last night. Vinsky knocked in five runs in the Mallards offensive onslaught and now has 46 RBI this summer. Vinsky's 46 RBIs are one behind Tyler Plantier's (Richmond) total of 47 this summer.

Outfielder Jake Randa (NW Florida State) hit a pair of home runs in the Mallards victory last night. Randa scored four runs and knocked in three while moving his season home run total to seven. Randa moved into a tie for second place on the Mallards in home runs, Plantier leads with 13 while Vinsky also has seven.
