The Madison Mallards (44-20, 16-12) could not complete a season sweep of the Lakeshore Chinooks (28-35, 12-16), losing the finale between the two teams 13-6 in Mequon, Wisconsin Friday night. The Mallards took the season series from the Chinooks 7-1. Madison pitchers could not find the plate consistently, walking ten batters, eight of whom came around to score.
Turning Point
With the Mallards trailing 7-4 going into the fifth inning, Lakeshore put six runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings, to turn a three-run deficit into a seven run margin, 13-6. In those middle innings, Madison pitchers allowed seven walks. The Mallards offense matched Lakeshore with eleven base hits, but could not recover from the free passes.
