
Rowney Recalled by Penguins from Wheeling

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have recalled forward Carter Rowney from loan to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) and returned defenseman Dustin Stevenson on loan to the Nailers.
Rowney joins Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for the second time this season. The 23-year old rookie has skated in three contests for the Penguins after making his team debut on Nov. 29 against the Binghamton Senators. Rowney is second on the Nailers in points (20) and assists (13), and is tied for second on the team with seven goals in 22 games.
Rowney was a four-year letterman at the University of North Dakota, where he compiled 73 points (32g-41a) and 65 penalty minutes in 150 contests. The native of Sexsmith, Alberta made his professional and American Hockey League debut in March, dressing in four games for the Abbotsford Heat.
Stevenson, 24, has appeared in seven games for the Penguins and recorded seven penalty minutes. In 14 games this season with Wheeling, the fourth-year pro has posted five assists and 38 PIM.
Stevenson has totaled three goals, 31 assists and 298 PIM in 214 ECHL contests with South Carolina, Reading and Wheeling. In 2012-13, he took home the Kelly Cup with the Reading Royals after totaling 10 assists and 103 PIM over 65 regular season games.
