Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. – Paul Rosebush recorded three goals and an assist, including his 100th tally as a Condor, but the Las Vegas Wranglers prevailed 5-4 in a shootout win over Bakersfield Condors in front of 4,822 fans at Centennial Garden on Saturday night.

The game bounced back and forth all night, and the two teams exchanged first and second period tallies. Dave Cousineau scored just 2:05 into the game for the 1-0 lead. Rosebush's first of the night tied the game at 12:28. It also made him the fourth player in Bakersfield history to score 100 goals. Steve Dowhy (164 total, 40 as a Condor), Jamie Cooke (143) and Paul Willett (130) are the others.

Vegas regained the lead at 5:27 of the second frame, but once again, Rosebush tied it with his 21st of the season at 16:19 on the power play. The Condors entered the third period with a 22-21 lead in shots and a 2-2 score. In the third period, the Wranglers broke the game open with two goals in the span of 1:15 to give themselves a 4-2 advantage. Greg Day's breakaway tally for the Wranglers' fourth goal was his second of the game.

Then came the hat trick. Rosebush's third goal of the night pulled Bakersfield within one goal and swung the momentum in their favor. The Condors pelted the Vegas net with 17 third period shots, and Todd Alexander finally got the equalizer with just 1:33 remaining in regulation. But in the shootout, the Wranglers beat Condors G Shane Bendera twice, to just one for the Condors, and they took the win.

That night, fans can purchase a terrace ticket for just $1 with the donation of a new or gently used book to the Cesar E. Chavez book drive. Game time is 7:00pm.
