Louisiana IceGators News Release
Florence, SC - The Louisiana IceGators finished their eight game road trip with a disappointing loss, as they dropped a 4 â 1 decision to the Florence Pride this afternoon in South Carolina. The IceGators (45-17-2) have 92 points in the ECHL standings.
The first period was scoreless for both teams as Frederic Cloutier faced eleven shots from the Pride (26-30-8). The IceGators put six shots on Sebastien LaPlante.
The line of Bobby Brown, Ed McGrane and Alex Materukhin continued to produce for the IceGators on this road trip. Alex Materukhin opened the scoring at the 9:06 point of the second period. After catching the puck from Brown and McGrane, Materukhin deked Sebastien LaPlante by shifting the puck from his backhand to his forehand before sliding it across the goal line for his 26th of the year.
The Pride came back and scored two in a row to take the one goal lead. Riku Rahikainen and Wes Goldie were able to beat Frederic Cloutier with goals just 2:38 apart.
The third period saw two more goals from the Pride, a short-handed tally from Wes Goldie and an empty-netter from Shaun Sutter. Cloutier faced 37 shots on goal through 60 mintues, while the Gators threw 25 shots on LaPlante. The IceGators split their season series against the Pride after earning a 3-1 win at the Cajundome on February 8.
The IceGators travel back to Lafayette tonight to prepare for their St. Patrick's Day game against the Columbus Cottonmouths. The March 17 game will feature a costume contest and $2 green beer. Wear green and receive $2 off tickets at the Cajundome box office.
