Don't Be Sad, 'cause 2 Out Of 3 Ain't Bad

The Alaska Aces ended the home portion of their regular season with a 4-2 victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones. The 4-2 Aces win snapped the Cyclones' three-game winning streak. The loss drops the Clones to 24-37-3 on the season. Alaska's Mark Smith scored twice on the night including shorthanded marker.

The Aces scored first when Smith broke in shorthanded on a breakaway. The goal staked the Aces to a 1-0 lead and was the only first period marker.

In the second, the Cyclones struck twice just 23 seconds apart. Ryan Brindley scored his 10th of the year at the 13:40 mark of the period. Evan Cheverie and Garrett Prosofsky earned helpers on the goal to wrap up their spectacular weekend in Alaska. Cheverie recorded his 100th point on the weekend while Prosofsky had four goal and four assists for eight points in three contests in Anchorage.

The Cyclones would strike again just 23 second later. Jeremy Bachusz scored his second professional goal with assisting going to Andrew Proskurnicki and Dean Stork.

With the Cyclones holding a 2-1 lead after the second, Randy Petruk made several spectacular saves early in the third before Bret DeCecco beat him on an Alaska power play. Wes Dorey would score the game winner at the 11:19 mark of the third before Mark Smith added an insurance goal with 2:50 left in the game.

The Cyclones are back on the ice on Friday at U.S. Bank Arena. Game time is 7:30 p.m. as the Clones take on the Toledo Storm. WWE Superstar Batista will be in attendance. An intermission wedding also highlights the Cyclones return to U.S. Bank Arena.
