Rosario, New 'Cat Crosby Lead RailCats to Sunday Win

June 28, 2015 - American Association (AA)
Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release

Things didn't look good for Gary SouthShore RailCats starter Charle Rosario after giving up three runs on three hits, but the team quickly rebounded to tie the game and eventually win in the series finale, 5-3, Sunday against the Lincoln Saltdogs.

The RailCats (18-17) got two runs back in the bottom of the first on a J.D. Pulfer single and Tillman Pugh fielder's choice before tying the contest in the second on a Jon Jones single to left.

The big blast came in the fourth off the bat of Michael Vaughn. The catcher, who has now struck out in six of hit last seven at-bats, hit a no doubt solo home run over the wall in left field to give the 'Cats their first lead.

Jones then dropped down a bunt single to pad the Gary SouthShore lead.

Sunday marks back-to-back quality starts for Rosario, as he settled down after the first inning. At one point, the 'Cats ace sat down 15 straight Saltdogs (13-23) batters.

Rosario has gone more than seven innings in two straight starts and now has four quality starts this season.

First baseman Alex Crosby, who was just signed before Sunday's game, got his first professional hit on the first pitch he saw in the second inning, driving a double into the right-centerfield gap. Crosby went 2-for-2 with two runs scored in his debut.

Jones had a 2-for-3 day with two RBI and a run scored.

The 'Cats are back in action Tuesday against the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks (10-27) at the U.S. Steel Yard.
