Evansville Otters News Release

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - Pitcher Ryan Zamorsky threw a complete game shutout and infielder Steve Marino had four runs batted in as the Evansville Otters beat the Windy City Thunderbolts 8-0 on Saturday night.

Zamorsky's complete game shutout came in the first professional start and sixth career appearance.

The Otters were led offensively by a three run home run from Marino and a two-run triple by infielder Frank Martinez.

Windy City and Evansville were scoreless through the first few innings until the Otters rallied in the bottom of the fourth. First baseman Nick Schwaner reached on a one out single, Marino followed with a walk and both would score on the Martinez triple to right-center field.

Ahead 2-0, Evansville added to their lead with a bases loaded walk from Deaun Williams in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The 3-0 advantage was more than enough for Zamorsky who allowed just five hits on the night.

Evansville did add five more runs late in the game.

Marino's three run home run created a 6-0 lead in the 7th inning and the Otters plated another two runs in the eighth.

Zamorsky (1-0) retired five of the last six batters he faced to finish the complete game shutout. He struck out a career high eight hitters in the win. The loss goes to Thunderbolts starter Travis Strong (0-1) who yielded three runs (two earned) in 5.2 innings.

John Schultz, C.J. Henry, Nick Schwaner, Steve Marino and Luis Uribe all finished with two hits in the Otters victory.

Both teams have won a game entering the Sunday series finale. Right-hander Ricky Bowen will make his season debut for Evansville against Windy City righty Travis Tingle (0-1, 5.40 ERA). It is Eastland Mall Memorial Day Weekend at Historic Bosse Field with first pitch scheduled for 5:05 pm CDT.
