Erie SeaWolves News Release

In front of the biggest crowd in UPMC Park history, Jake Rogers launched a two-run walk-off moonshot to left field to seal Erie's 4-3 victory over Bowie.

Kyle Funkhouser struggled in the top of the second for Erie. The righty let up three straight singles to start, and then walked in a run with the bases loaded. Funkhouser fought back though and retired the side in order after allowing Bowie to take the 1-0 lead.

The SeaWolves tied the game in the home half of the third inning. Danny Woodrow and Sergio Alcantara both walked to lead off the inning on Bowie starter Luis Ysla. In a gutsy move, Woodrow and Alcantara took off and executed a double steal. That gave Daz Cameron the opportunity to knock in Woodrow on a groundout to second base, tying the game at 1-1.

Bowie did not keep the game tied for long on Kyle Funkhouser. The Erie starter surrendered another two leadoff singles, leading the way for Martin Cervenka to ground into a double play with runners on the corners. Anderson Feliz trotted home to score, giving the Baysox the 2-1 lead.

The SeaWolves allowed Bowie to elevate their lead to 3-1 in the sixth. Cervenka doubled on reliever Caleb Thielbar, scoring Anderson Feliz from third.

Chad Sedio allowed Erie to climb closer in the seventh inning. The left fielder smacked a single into right field to bring in Jake Rogers on Reid Love.

John Schreiber struck out the side in a lights out top of the ninth to set it up foe Erie in the bottom half of the inning.

Love forced Lester to pop out to center field for the first out. With one gone, Dominic Ficociellogrounded a ball deep in the hole at short, Salcedo fielded and attempted a throw to first, but it skipped in late to give Erie a base runner. After battling a few pitches, Jake Rogers cranked a deep fly ball to left field, sending everyone to their feet at UPMC Park. The catcher's ninth home run of the year was also his second walk-off bomb of the season, and the SeaWolves clinched their eighth series win of their last nine played.

Schreiber (1-5) got his first win of the season after striking out three in the ninth, while Love (2-3) blew the save and was handed the loss for the Baysox (36-47). Funkhouser worked 5.0 IP, allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three in the no-decision.

The SeaWolves (39-43) head to Binghamton to start a five game series Wednesday at 6:35 PM at NYSEG Stadium. RHP Beau Burrows (6-5, 3.43 ERA) will duel with the Rumble Ponies' RHP Mickey Jannis (5-2, 4.52 ERA).

BOWIE (36-47) 3-9-0
