Altoona Curve News Release

AKRON, Ohio - Triston McKenzie took a no-hitter into the seventh inning as the Altoona Curve were shut out by the Akron RubberDucks, 3-0, on Tuesday night at Canal Park.

The Curve (42-37) dropped three of the five games in the road series against the RubberDucks (48-36) in a clash of the top two teams in the Western Division.

The Curve broke up the no-hid bid for McKenzie (Win, 3-2) with a lead-off triple by Ke'Bryan Hayes in the top of the seventh inning. Jordan George was hit by a pitch in the inning, but the Akron reliever Nick Pasquale stranded them both.

Hayes singled to open the ninth inning, but was wiped out by a game-ending double play against Henry Martinez (Save, 8)

Akron jumped ahead with a three-run second inning against Altoona starter Pedro Vasquez (Loss, 2-5). Tyler Kreiger drove a two-run single and Alexis Pantoja added an RBI single later in the frame.

Altoona reliever Yeudy Garica worked around three hits and a walk to post two scoreless innings.

Hayes went 2-for-4 and now has multiple hits in six of his last seven games.

On Wednesday, the Curve begin a five-game home series against the Trenton Thunder. Right-hander Eduardo Vera (1-2, 5.45) will start for the Curve, opposed by Thunder lefty Ryan Bollinger (3-3, 6.18). First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

The Curve return to PNG Field on Wednesday with Independence Day fireworks to kick off a five-game homestand against the Trenton Thunder. For tickets or more information, visit AltoonaCurve.com, call 877.99.CURVE or stop by the PNG Field box office.
