Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - Altoona Curve first baseman Will Craig has been selected to participate in the 2018 Case's Pork Roll Home Run Derby on Tuesday, July 10 in Trenton, the league announced on Tuesday.
Craig, who was announced to the Eastern League All-Star Game rosters on Friday, has clubbed a career-high 12 home runs this season, which is tied with Curve teammate Logan Hill for the most in the Pirates organization and is tied for eighth in the Eastern League.
A first-round draft pick out of Wake Forest in 2016, Craig has more than doubled his home run total from his first two professional seasons so far this year. The Johnson City, Tenn. native is currently ranked as the Pirates' No. 16 prospect by MLB.com.
Along with Craig, the representatives from the Western Division include Richmond's Luigi Rodriguez, Harrisburg's Taylor Gushue and Akron's Connor Marabell.
The Eastern Division will be represented by Trenton's Trey Amgburgey and Abiatal Avelino, Reading's Zach Green and Hartford's Sam Hilliard.
The Case's Pork Roll Home Run Derby will take place on July 10 following the Philadelphia Police Blue Sox and NYPD Finest Charity Baseball Game, which is scheduled to begin at 5:30pm.
The competition will begin with a four-minute round for each participant to hit as many home runs as possible with the top two totals advancing to the final. In the event of a tie after the first round, participants will get 90 seconds to participate in a swing-off for the opportunity to advance to the final.
The winner of the Case's Pork Roll Home Run Derby will take home a special gift from Case's Pork Roll, a championship belt and a cash prize.
