
Rodriguez Optioned to Salt Lake, Denham Reassigned to Arkansas

SALT LAKE CITY (August 31, 2009) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has optioned right-handed pitcher Rafael Rodriguez to Triple-A Salt Lake. To make room for Rodriguez on the Bees roster, Salt Lake reassigned right-handed pitcher Dan Denham to Double-A Arkansas.
Rodriguez, 24, has appeared in 15 games for the Angels in 2009, owning a 0-1 record with a 6.26 ERA and nine strikeouts. In 19 games for the Bees this season, he owns a 1.80 ERA with three saves and 19 strikeouts. The Dominican Republic native signed with the Angels as a free agent on July 20, 2001.
Denham, 26, has appeared in 27 games (21 starts) for the Bees in 2009, owning a 9-9 record with a 5.21 ERA and 56 strikeouts. In 25 games (all starts) for Arkansas in 2008, he owned a 9-10 record with a 4.44 ERA and 99 strikeouts. The Antioch, Calif. native joined the Angels via trade from Oakland on July 12, 2007.
The Salt Lake Bees continue the team's final road trip of the season tonight against the Tacoma Rainiers at 8 p.m. The Bees return home for the final four regular season games of 2009 on Friday, September 4 at 7:05 p.m. at Spring Mobile Ballpark against the Sacramento River Cats.
