MCALLEN, TEXAS - The NBA Development League Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today that their parent club, the NBA Houston Rockets, have re-assigned guard Jermaine Taylor (6-4, 210, Central Florida) to the Vipers.
Following his latest recall on February 23, Taylor averaged 4.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in 9.8 minutes over the course of four games fir the Rockets. Taylor scored seven points with four rebounds (two offensive) in 23 minutes of a loss at Utah on February 27. He also recorded a career-high eight points and two assists to go with two rebounds and one steal in 13 minutes of a win over Toronto on March 1.
In 21 games with the Rockets this season, Taylor is averaging 2.9 points and 6.8 minutes per game.
Taylor, who has had two previous assignments with the Vipers, is averaging 19.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in six games (two starts) with the Vipers.
"With the Houston Rockets at full strength it provides an opportunity for Jermaine Taylor to rejoin the Vipers for their stretch run. We think it will be a great experience for Jermaine to play a key role for the Vipers, as they finish their season and make a run in the playoffs. In addition, the assignment will allow Jermaine to continue his overall basketball development," said Vipers General Manager Gersson Rosas, who is also the Vice President of Player Development for the Rockets.
