Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Mar. 17 - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Idaho Stampede 105-93 on Wednesday night at the Sioux Falls Arena. Adidas Player of the Game Greg Stiemsma recorded five blocks to raise his total to 137 and break Keith Closs' record for blocks in a season (133).
Sioux Falls shot 50.0 percent (20-of-40) in the first half and led 50-44 at halftime. Chris McCray scored 13 points in the first two quarters on 6-of-8 shooting from the field.
Sioux Falls led by as many as 15 points three times in the third quarter but Idaho cut the lead to 80-72 at the end of the third quarter. Idaho trailed by 10 points (92-82) with just over five minutes to go in the contest but Jared Newson sent the St. Patrick's night crowd into a frenzy with a thunderous dunk to swing the momentum. The Stampede never threatened down the stretch as the Skyforce won their 15th game in 17 outings.
McCray posted his second double-double of the season with 18 points and a season-high 13 assists. Stiemsma was just shy of a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. Alexander Johnson contributed 17 points and six rebounds in his return after sitting out last night with an injury.
Donell Taylor and Coby Karl shared team-high honors in points with 15 points each. Mildon Ambres added 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Sioux Falls travels to Des Moines to take on the league-leading Iowa Energy on Friday at 7 p.m. CT. Idaho returns home to face Tulsa on Friday at 7 p.m. MT.
