Maine Regains Winning Touch with 122-95 Win Over T-Birds

PORTLAND, ME - Paul Davis led all scorers with 29 points, leading the Red Claws (25-17) to a 122-95 win over the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (18-26) at the Portland Expo Building. The 27-point differential was the biggest margin of victory this season for Maine.

Davis made 12 of his 17 shots from the floor and was five-of-five from the line while grabbing six boards and blocking two shots. Teammate Morris Almond also had a strong game, scoring 19 points on eight-of-eleven shooting. Kurt Looby had strong game in the post for Maine with 8 rebounds and six blocked shots while TJ Cummings scored 17 points and pulled down five boards.

Down 43-41 with just over six minutes remaining in the second quarter, Maine went on 22-7 run to take a 13 point lead (63-50). Almond scored 8 points in the run.

The Red Claws continued their hot shooting in the second half going on a 14-0 run over a three minutes starting at the 9:49 mark in the third quarter to take a 27 point lead (81-54).

Maine led by as much as thirty points in the game (99-69) with 11 minutes remaining in regulation.

In his first game against Maine since being traded earlier this month, Trey Gilder led Albuquerque with 22 points and eight rebounds. Teammates Chad Toppert and Antoine Agudio each contributed with 17 points in the loss.

Both teams will square off again this Friday night at 7:30 PM at the Portland Expo Building.
