Rockets Prospects Results at WHL Cup

The WHL Cup wrapped up on Sunday afternoon with Manitoba defeating Alberta 6-5 in a shootout to claim their first-ever gold medal at the 2023 WHL Cup presented by FPS Payment.

The Rockets had five prospects playing in the tournament: Eli Barrett (BC), Kanjyu Gojsic (BC), Owen Folstrom (AB), Ben Macbeath (AB), Boston Schmidt (SK).

Defenceman Ben Macbeath and forward Owen Folstrom both posted three points each over five games throughout the tournament, capturing a silver medal with Team Alberta.

Eli Barrett recorded an assist, while Kanjyu Gojsic posted a goal and an assist through five games, finishing fourth with Team BC.

Boston Schmidt was held pointless through four games as Team Saskatchewan won bronze.

The tournament featured teams from the four Western Canadian provinces competing in a round-robin tournament format followed by playoffs.

The 2023 WHL Cup showcased the top 2008-born players from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
