Giants Prospects Impress at 2023 WHL Cup

Red Deer, Alta. - All four Vancouver Giants prospects that took part in the 2023 WHL Cup presented by FPS Payment that wrapped up on Sunday made an impact on the ice.

Three of the four scored goals, two won medals and two served as captains of their respective teams.

Here is a recap on the performances of Ryan Lin (B.C.), Brett Olson (AB), Kai Anderson (B.C.) and Luca Pura (MB).

Ryan Lin - Team B.C.

Lin (Richmond, B.C.), the Giants' sixth overall pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, was the captain for Team B.C. Although B.C. didn't come away with a medal, Lin registered a pair of assists in the tournament, including a sweet long bank pass in the semifinal against Manitoba.

The right-shot defenceman already has five points (3G-2A) in three games for Delta's U18 Prep team this season.

Brett Olson - Team Alberta

Olson (Spruce Grove, AB), the Giants' eighth overall pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, was the captain for Team Alberta and helped them capture a Silver Medal. The two-way centre also produced offensively with three goals, including a pair of goals in his team's semifinal win over Saskatchewan.

Olson is playing for the St. Albert U18 Raiders in the Alberta Elite Hockey League for the second straight season, where he has six points in five games thus far (3G-3A).

Kai Anderson - Team B.C.

Anderson (North Vancouver, B.C.), a Giants' sixth round pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, chipped in with a goal for Team B.C., scoring the game-winning-goal in the team's tournament opening win over Saskatchewan.

Anderson began the season playing for Burnaby Winter Club's U17 Prep team, where he put up five points in four games (2G-3A) before getting called up to BWC's U18 team, playing two games so far.

Luca Pura - Team Manitoba

Pura (Winnipeg, MB), a seventh round selection by the Giants in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, helped Manitoba win their first ever gold medal at the WHL Cup. The left-shot forward scored a pair of goals and added an assist in five games.

Pura is playing for the U18 Winnipeg Wild this season in the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League, where he has one goal in two games thus far.
