The Kelowna Rockets came from behind to secure their 41st victory over the season with a 3-2 overtime win over the Vancouver Giants on Friday night at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, BC.

The Giants needed to win tonight's game to secure one of the final three spots in the Western Conference for the 2022 WHL Playoffs, the loss to the Rockets delayed that until at least tomorrow.

The Rockets opened the scoring, but the Giants pushed back with two straight goals. Kelowna netted a power play marker late in the third, Colton Dach then played the hero in overtime.

With two points on the night, Dach extended his point streak to eight games. The Chicago Blackhawks prospect has posted eight goals and thirteen assists over that span.

Nolan Flamand (10) was the lone player to find the back of the net in the opening frame, cashing in a power play goal with a second left to go on the man advantage.

2021 Boston Bruins first-round pick Fabian Lysell (22) tied the game up in the second.

Giants captain Zack Ostapchuk (25) gave Vancouver their first lead of the game 39 seconds into the third. Adam Kydd (18) redirected Colton Dach's shot on the power play to tie with 7:33 to go in the third.

Colton Dach (29) ended things 1:12 into overtime when Andrew Cristall set him up with the game-winner.

The Rockets outshot the Giants 43-29.

Kelowna starter Talyn Boyko made 27 saves on 29 shots.

Kelowna was two-for-five on the power play, while Vancouver was one-for-five with the man advantage.

The Rockets will wrap up their regular season schedule tomorrow against the Prince George Cougars at Prospera Place. Prospera Place announced last week that guests in attendance will no longer have to show proof of vaccination in adherence with the new B.C. provincial guidelines. Face coverings will continue to be optional when attending a Rockets game, concerts, shows, and other events at Prospera Place.
