Portland Winterhawks News Release

Portland, Ore. - Jaydon Dureau, Gabe Klassen, Kurtis Smythe, Aidan Litke and Jack O'Brien each tallied two points as the Winterhawks rattled off five unanswered goals to knock off the visiting Silvertips 5-1 in their regular season finale. The Winterhawks finish the regular season with 99 points and an overall record of 47-16-3-2.

Everett opened the scoring in the second period when Michal Gut deflected a Ty Gibson shot past Taylor Gauthier, but Portland responded with three goals before the end of the frame. With the Hawks on the power play, O'Brien cued the hosts' resurgence at 10:12 as he chipped home a Luca Cagnoni rebound at the side of the net. Litke and Dureau then joined the fun with goals fewer than two minutes apart, with Litke hammering a one-timer from an O'Brien feed and Dureau converting on a breakaway for his 23rd of the year.

The Winterhawks continued their dominance in the third, with Dureau nabbing his second of the night early in the frame. James Stefan ripped a shot from the right circle that rebounded to Dureau on the left hash for the Hawks' fourth of the night. Putting the cherry on top, Smythe grabbed his first goal of the year with just under five minutes to play, wrapping up a 5-1 win for Portland.

Taylor Gauthier stopped 21 of 22 shots in the win, his fifth in a row for the club.

Portland now awaits its first-round playoff opponent ahead of Game 1 on Friday, April 22 and Game 2 on Saturday, April 23 at the VMC. The puck will drop at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night and 6:00 p.m. pm Saturday.
