BASEBALL KNIGHT IN ROCHESTER: The Rochester Red Wings tonight continue their 8-game homestand with the opener of a 4-game series against International League South Division leader Charlotte (White Sox). The Red Wings lost 3 of 4 games vs. Durham (Rays) to open the homestand. After 4 with Charlotte, the Wings will hit the road for a brief 4-game set at Lehigh Valley (Phillies) Tuesday-Friday. Then it's back home for a 2-game series against the Empire State Yankees June 30-July 1.

a Tonight's game, as well as tomorrow's, can be seen live on Time Warner Cable Sports.

a Charlotte will make a return trip to Frontier Field for a 4-game series with Empire State July 16-19.

TIME TO RIGHT THE SHIP: The Red Wings have lost 3 of their last 4, 4 of their last 6, and 7 of their last 11, yet are still 19-17 beginning May 15. The Wings have also been playing .500 baseball beginning May 3, going 24-24 in that time.

a The Wings finished the first half of the season with a 33-39 record, their best since the 2009 club went 34-38. Rochester hasn't had a winning record at the halfway point since 2007, when it went 39-33.

a The Red Wings yesterday lost 14-8 vs. Durham to open the season's 2nd half. The 14 runs were the most allowed by the Wings at Frontier Field since July 21, 2011, when they lost 18-3 vs. Durham. The 20 hits allowed last night were the Red Wings' most in any game since that same July 21 contest with Durham.

a By losing 3 of 4 vs. Durham, the Red Wings lost their first series at Frontier Field since getting swept in a 3-game series vs. Syracuse (Nationals) April 25-26.

HOME IS STILL WHERE THE HEART IS: Despite dropping 3 of 4 vs. Durham, Rochester is unbeaten in 9 of their 12 series at Frontier, going 5-3-4. The other series setback came April 11-13, when the Wings dropped 2 of 3 vs. Pawtucket (Red Sox). The Red Wings are 23-19 at Frontier Field overall, including a 19-15 mark as the home team. The Red Wings served as the "road" team in 8 games with Empire State April 16-19 and May 1-4.

a The Red Wings have allowed 6 or more runs in 5 straight games at Frontier Field. That is the longest such streak since at least 1981 (more research needed with the binders in the archives).

TAKING A PLUNGE: The Red Wings entered play June 10 at Indianapolis (Pirates) ranked 3rd in the IL with a 3.45 ERA. In 11 games since, the Red Wings have posted a 6.35 ERA (67 ER/95.0 IP) to drop to 11th in the league with a 4.04 ERA. Rochester is 4-7 in that period.

a In that same span, Red Wings' starters are just 1-6 with a 9.44 ERA (43 ER/41.0 IP). This stretch began after Liam Hendriks's final start with the Red Wings June 9 at Indianapolis. Hendriks was recalled to Minnesota June 15. Cole De Vries has the lone victory for a starter in Rochester's last 11 games, a June 15 triumph at Louisville. Not only that, he's the only Wings' starter to pitch at least 5.0 innings in that time. He worked 7.0 innings June 15 at Louisville and 6.1 innings Wednesday vs. Durham.

a Red Wings' starting pitchers are winless in their last 6 games, going 0-4 with a 11.91 ERA (30 ER/22.2 IP) in that time. De Vries recorded the last win for a starter in that June 15 contest at Louisville.

a Wings' starters are 18-23 with a 4.23 ERA (169 ER/359.2 IP) overall.

THE STRIVE FOR NINE: The Red Wings have homered in a season-high 8 straight games, belting 12 long balls overall in that time. Brian Dinkelman's 3-run shot and Clete Thomas's team-leading 6th homer last night vs. Durham extended the run. The 8-game streak is the Wings' longest since a 10-game tear July 18-26, 2009. They hit 14 homers during that stretch, which ended July 27 at Charlotte.

a The Red Wings are tied with Pawtucket for the most home runs in the league beginning June 14 with 12.

a The Red Wings have already homered 18 times in 20 games in June after hitting 15 homers in 30 games in May.

Only 6 other players in the IL have 5 or more homers in June, including teammate Clete Thomas (5), Empire State's Russell Branyan (7) and Jack Cust (5), Charlotte's Dan Johnson (6), Gwinnett's Ernesto Mejia (5), and Toledo's Ryan Strieby (6).

a Ramirez hit a 2-run walk-off homer in the 9th inning Wednesday vs. Durham off closer Brandon Gomes to win it 7-6.

a Ramirez has a combined 9 home runs with Double-A New Britain and Rochester to rank tied for 3rd in the Twins' minor league system with New Britain's Deibinson Romero, trailing Beloit's Miguel Sano (15) and New Britain's Chris Colabello (10).

CALLING ALL STARS: Voting for the 2012 Triple-A All-Star Game concludes today at RedWingsBaseball.com. The game, featuring the IL and the Pacific Coast League, will be played July 11 at Buffalo's Coca-Cola Field.
