Rochester Red Wings News Release
Rochester, N.Y., June 21, 2012 - Martino Flynn and the United Way of Greater Rochester received top honors last night at the 23rd annual PRism Awards ceremony. The Rochester chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) presented the evening's top honors - Best of PRisms - to the United Way (not-for-profit) for its "ROC the Day" event campaign, and to Martino Flynn for its (for profit) "Absorbine Rebranding" integrated campaign. Martino Flynn was also a big winner at the event, with 11 PRism awards and seven Awards of Excellence.
"Once again, the Rochester public relations community, including local not-for-profits, agencies, and corporations, demonstrated the powerful impact that public relations can have on the goals of an organization," said Craig Troskosky, president, Rochester PRSA Chapter. "The PRism awards showcase the Rochester area's exceptional creativity and talent. Our work clearly matches or exceeds what is being done in much larger markets."
In addition to the PRisms, two special awards were presented at last night's ceremony. Naomi Silver, president, CEO, and COO of Rochester Community Baseball, Inc., was presented with the CEO of the Year Award. The award recognizes a corporate executive who has demonstrated a strong understanding and regard for the practice of public relations.
Kyra Mancine, copywriter, and public relations and social media coordinator at QCI Direct, received the Rising Star Award, which honors the accomplishments of a public relations professional with no more than seven years of experience. Along with the special awards given out last night, Chyna Trible, a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology, and member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), was the recipient of the Charles S. Smith Scholarship.
PRSA Rochester hosted the PRism Award ceremony last night at Artisan Works on Blossom Rd. in Rochester. More than 125 members of the Rochester PRSA community were in attendance and all were treated to the vibrant colors and visual entertainment that the venue had to offer. The 2012 PRism awards were presented by PRSA Rochester and the entries were evaluated by the PRSA Oklahoma City chapter. The awards were sponsored by PRNewswire, and a complete list of winners can be found online at www.prsarochester.org.
Founded in 1953, the Rochester chapter of the Public Relations Society of America offers networking and job opportunities, conferences, certification, and professional development seminars to local public relations professionals. In 1989, the chapter established an annual competition recognizing excellence in public relations known as the PRism Awards. This year, the chapter celebrates its 23rd anniversary of the awards. Rochester-area PR professionals submitted 148 entries into the competition - from that number, 49 PRisms were awarded and 36 Awards of Excellence were received.
