
Rocchio's Three Hits Not Enough as Altoona Drops Akron 6-3

Summary
Despite a three-hit day from Brayan Rocchio, the Akron RubberDucks could not overcome the Altoona Curve's early offense in a 6-3 loss on Wednesday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
Working through two scoreless innings, Hunter Gaddis ran into trouble in the third inning. Altoona's bats were able to plate four runs, three coming on a home run by Aaron Shackelford, and put the Curve up 4-0 early in the game.
Mound Presence
Gaddis struggled with runners on base, finding himself with runners on in each inning he pitched. Gaddis finished with five innings of work allowing five runs and striking out two. Manuel Alvarez pitched two innings and gave up one unearned run. Cade Smith worked two scoreless innings striking out one.
Duck Tales
In the fifth inning, Jose Tena hit a double into the left-center gap that drove in Julian Escobedo, who reached via a single, making the score 5-1 Altoona. Tena was driven in with a Brayan Rocchio double, making the score 5-2 Curve. Escobedo reached base with a single in the seventh inning and was driven in by a George Valera single, making the score 6-3 Altoona.
Notebook
Micah Pries picked up yet another hit, which extending his hitting streak to 12 games...Valera was able to add on to his yearly total for RBIs, picking up his 50th which is good for top five within the Eastern League...Game Time: 2:35...Attendance: 1,981.

The RubberDucks will continue their series against the Altoona Curve on Thursday, July 7 at 6:35 p.m. at Canal Park. Right-hander Tanner Bibee will make his Akron debut against Curve righty and Massillon native Kyle Nicolas (0-2, 4.27 ERA).
