July 6, 2022 - Eastern League (EL)
Erie SeaWolves News Release
The SeaWolves won their third straight game, shutting out the Harrisburg Senators on Wednesday night 7-0 at FNB Field.
Erie opened the scoring in the second against Harrisburg starter Josh Rogers who was on a Major League rehab assignment. Andrew Navigato connected on a one-out solo home run, his seventh, for a 1-0 lead. Eric De La Rosa followed the home run with an infield single, putting a man on ahead of Gage Workman. Workman extended his hitting streak to four straight games with a towering two-run home run to left-center for a 3-0 lead. Workman has now homered in three of his past four games and has nine on the season.
The SeaWolves added to the lead in the fourth. Navigato walked with one out and De La Rosa homered for the second straight night making it 5-0. The home run was the third of the season for De La Rosa. Workman followed with a single, stole second and scored on a two-out Andre Lipcius base hit. Workman would later triple and for the second time this season, fell one hit shy of hitting for the cycle.
Erie added a final run in the seventh off of Harrisburg reliever Steven Fuentes. Dillon Dingler walked with two outs and scored from first on a Navigato bloop double to left.
Wilmer Flores got the start for the SeaWolves and began his night retiring the first 10 batters he faced. The only hit he allowed in four scoreless innings was a Jake Alu double in the fourth. Flores took a no-decision with six strikeouts and no walks.
The Erie bullpen, after a rocky Monday night, came out strong to complete the shutout. Brendan White (3-3) earned the win hurling two perfect innings in relief of Flores. He induced five ground ball outs and one pop-out.
Zac Houston, Billy Lescher and Joe Navilhon finished the night each tossing a scoreless frame. The five Erie pitchers used did not issue a walk and struck out a combined nine.
Rogers (0-1) took the loss allowing six runs on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
