Brandon Robinson scored twice and added an assist as the Kitchener Rangers hammered the Peterborough Petes 8-2 on Friday night. Ryan MacInnis recorded a goal and a trio of helpers in the victory, which extended the Rangers win streak to a fourth consecutive game.

The Rangers opened the scoring three minutes into the first period with a quick pair of goals, making the most of a 5-on-3 power play opportunity. Justin Bailey scored his team-high tenth of the season with the two-man advantage, jumping on a rebound in the slot and lifting a shot over Peterborough starter Scott Smith. Defenceman Max Iafrate picked up an assist, extending his recent point streak to a ninth game, and import forward Gustaf Franzen also added a helper on the play.

Brandon Robinson added a second goal just 26 seconds later, snapping a rebound past Smith to pot his third goal in as many games. The veteran winger is riding a six game point streak, with four goals and three assists to his credit since October 21. Rearguard Dmitrii Sergeev set up the play and leads all Ranger defencemen in scoring. Sophomore Ryan MacInnis also picked up an assist on the power play marker, giving the Coyotes prospect points in back-to-back games.

Kitchener continued to pressure offensively, adding a third goal before the five minute mark. Second year winger Mike Davies outmuscled a defender in front of the Petes net, pushing a diving backhand shot past Smith to tally his fifth of the season. Oakville, ON native Mark Bzowey picked up his first career Ontario Hockey League point with an assist on the play. Sergeev also earned a helper, his second of the game and ninth of the season.

Robinson added one more goal in the dying seconds of the frame, taking advantage of a late period power play. With a crowd forming in front of the Peterborough crease, the Pickering, ON native settled the puck and chipped a tough angle shot into the net. Bailey and MacInnis each earned their second point of the game with assists on the play at 19:56.

Kitchener dominated shots on goal 18-9 through the opening 20 minutes.

The Rangers added their fifth goal of the game early in the second period, racing into the Petes zone on the odd-man rush. Overage pivot Curtis Meighan centred the puck for Darby Llewellyn, who rattled a long shot past Smith for his fifth of the season. Iafrate added his second assist of the game on the goal at 3:12.

Two goals in the final minute of the frame sent the Rangers into intermission with a 7-0 lead. Brent Pedersen struck first, picking up a pass from MacInnis near the Petes' blueline and racing in alone. The veteran Rangers skater banked a shot off the goal post behind Smith's right skate, recording his fourth goal of the year with 34 seconds left on the clock.

With less than five seconds remaining, Nick Magyar found the back of the Peterborough net, notching his fifth of the year. Robinson set up the tally, lacing a pass across the front of the net for the Colorado Avalanche prospect and picking up his third point of the night. Franzen also earned another point with an assist on the play.

The Rangers continued to lead shots on goal in the middle frame with a 15-13 advantage.

Kitchener continued to press early in the third period, extending its lead to 8-0 just 25 seconds in. Bailey carried the puck through the neutral zone, and sent a backhand pass across the ice to MacInnis. The second-year centre hoisted a shot by Smith's blocker for his sixth goal of the year and his fourth point of the evening. Pedersen also picked up a helper, his second point of the game.

Petes veteran Nick Ritchie ended the Rangers shutout bid with 13:05 left to play, beating starter Dawson Carty with a high shot to pick up his seventh goal of the season. Matt Spencer recorded the lone assist on the Anaheim prospect's tally.

Peterborough added a second goal near the midway point of the third period, cutting the Rangers lead to 8-2. Third year Pete Eric Cornel took advantage of heavy traffic at the Kitchener net, pushing the puck past a sprawling Carty and notching his fifth goal of 2014-15. Assists on the play were credited to Cameron Lizotte and Ritchie.

The Rangers led shots on goal 12-11 in the third period and finished with a 45-33 overall advantage. Carty made 31 saves to pick up his fourth straight victory.

Kitchener's fourth consecutive win improves its record to 9-3-0-3, and moves the team into third place in the Midwest Division.
