OHL Announces Roster Changes for 2014 SUBWAY Super Series

November 7, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) News Release

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League in association with the Canadian Hockey League today announced several roster changes for Team OHL that will compete in the 2014 SUBWAY© Super Series.

A trio of Oshawa Generals have been added to Game 3 of the series November 13 in Peterborough including Vancouver Canucks forward prospect Cole Cassels, goaltender Ken Appleby, and defenceman 2015 NHL Draft prospect Mitchell Vande Sompel.

A third round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, Cassels is currently tied for fourth in OHL scoring with 28 points in 16 games. Appleby, a 19-year-old from North Bay, has a league-low goals-against-average of 1.91 while tied for first with a save percentage of .926 and currently carries a 12-1-0-0 record with three shutouts. Vande Sompel, a 17-year-old from London, is tied for first in scoring among OHL defencemen with 19 points in 16 games.

Vande Sompel was originally named to Team OHL for Game 4 in Kingston on November 17 but will now suit up in both games replacing Alex Peters of the Plymouth Whalers who is unable to compete due to injury. Appleby replaces Mackenzie Blackwood of the Barrie Colts who remains on the roster for Game 4 of the series in Kingston, while Cassels becomes the 13th forward added to Team OHL for Game 3.
