Belleville Bulls News Release
SAULT STE. MARIE, ON - The Belleville Bulls look to keep momentum rolling as they travel north to face the West Division leading Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. The Bulls are fresh off a convincing 5-1 win over the Mississauga Steelheads and defeated the Hounds on home ice the last time these two clubs met. Puck drop is set for 7:05pm from Essar Centre.
The Greyhounds, who are currently in the middle of a 3 game home stand, earned two points on Wednesday night when they downed the Plymouth Whalers 3-2. Sault Ste. Marie is led by Russian import Sergey Tolchinsky and hometown boy Blake Spears. The two right wingers have put up 21 points a piece in 16 games played.
Forward Michael Bunting leads his club in the goal-scoring category, netting 11 markers in 16 games played. The Greyhounds have dropped to 9th on the BMO CHL Top 10 list.
Belleville had a dominating performance on home ice Wednesday night, cruising past the Mississauga Steelheads 5-1. Defenceman Jordan Subban, who has returned to the top of the OHL's defenceman scoring list, extended his point streak to 9 games, scoring his 9th of the season in the final frame. Other goal scorers for the Bulls were forwards Niki Petti, Michael Cramarossa, blue liner Stephen Harper and rookie Matt Luff. Petti also added an assist and picked up first star honours.
After receiving a games rest, Charlie Graham will start between the pipes Friday night. Graham has a 0.925 save percentage in 13 starts thus far. 1996-born defenceman Brody Morris has been called up from Wellington for the road trip, moving Burlington native Stephen Harper up to forward. Morris posted his first assist of the season in a 3-2 win over the Sarnia Sting.
A fast paced, highly competitive game is expected as the Bulls look to make it two in a row against the Greyhounds. You can get full play-by-play coverage with Jack Miller starting at 6:50pm on 800 CJBQ. The Bulls will continue their northern road trip on Saturday night when they invade the Sudbury Community Arena.
