
Road Warriors Romp Stingrays in Lieuwen's First Shutout

North Charleston, SC: The Road Warriors stopped their longest franchise winless streak at four games with a 6-0 victory against South Carolina and Nathan Lieuwen collected his first profession shutout.
Greenville came out flying in the first period and controlled the start. Kyle Haines scored his third goal of the season with a blast from the top of the circle. Brendan Connolly and Francis Verreault entered the zone trading passes to provide space for Haines at the far point. The Stingrays would apply pressure halfway through the period to garner scoring chances but none converted. Greenville outshot the Stingrays 11-10 in the period.
Neither team was able to create many scoring opportunities in the second period with South Carolina outshooting the Road Warriors 6-5. Greenville was able to convert a goal on the powerplay with Mike Marcou scoring his third of the year. Marc-Olivier Vallerand and Sebastien Piche notched assist on the goal.
The Road Warriors scored a goal 4:22 into the third period and the team didn't look back. Bretton Cameron collected his second goal of the year which began a four goal period. Andrew Yogan, Jordie Johnston, and Brandon Wong also scored in the period. Nathan Lieuwen was strong in the net stopping all 26 shots for his ninth win of the season. Adam Morrison took the loss stopping 23 of 29 shots.
The Road Warriors will return home on Thursday for a three game home stand. Greenville welcomes Gwinnett back to the EquilifeMD Rink at the BI-LO Center for a 7 p.m. faceoff. THE ROAD WARRIORS WILL HAVE A SPECIAL PREGAME PRESENTATION HONORING DEAN STORK FOR WINNING HIS 100th CAREER GAME AS A HEAD COACH. Thursday is Guys Night Out with $2 BEERS, HOT DOGS, PRETZELS AND FOUNTAIN DRINKS. Pro Golfer Jay Haas will be on the concourse signing autographs beginning at 6 p.m. Fans can also enjoy free professional massages from Massage Therapist Angela Jackson, and test out their Mini-Golf skills on the concourse!
