The Grizzlies outshot the Aces 14-7 in the second frame and opened the scoring with the only goal of the first two periods. Josh Burrows scored from the left point on a wrist shot through a screen at 6:09 to give Utah a 1-0 lead. Later in the period Alaska's Joey Crabb and Burrows engaged in a fight, as the teams continued to display their bad blood throughout the game.

Utah extended their lead to 2-0 early in the third when Brad Mills scored a rebound power play goal. The Aces finally solved Rollheiser at 14:11 of the period, and pulled within one when Joey Crabb converted a rebound. However, Rollheiser stopped 14 of Alaska's 15 third period shots and kept the Aces at bay for the Utah victory.

Mark Guggenberger (12-5) took the loss, making 26 saves on 28 shots. Grant Rollheiser (5-3-1) made 28 saves on 29 shots, picking up the win. The Aces went 0-4 on the power play and the Grizzlies were 1-5. Alaska outshot Utah 29-28 in the game.
