Recap of Last Week
The Road Warriors began a three game weekend against the Gwinnett Gladiators on Friday night. Gwinnett opened the scoring with two goals in the first period. In the second period, T.J. Reynold scored the first goal of the night and his season. The goal would prompt fans to toss 2,078 stuffed animals to the ice which were donated to Toys for Tots. Gwinnett would regain a two goal lead brining the score to 3-1 after two periods. Greenville would start the third period on fire and score three goals. Gwinnett would push back with a goal of their own forcing overtime and then a shootout. The Gladiators won the shootout and the game by a score of 5-4.
Greenville tried to rebound in Gwinnett the next night but was unsuccessful losing 5-2. The Gladiators scored three goals in the final frame to pull further ahead of the Road Warriors in the South Division.
The weekend of games came to a close on Sunday night with another Road Warriors loss. This time the opponent was the South Carolina Stingrays, who won 2-1. South Carolina scored 11 seconds into the game and the winning goal came off of a clearing attempt that took a bad hop off the glass.
Week Ahead
The Road Warriors will have four games this week beginning on Tuesday in South Carolina. The Road Warriors season record against the Stingrays is 1-1-0. South Carolina is over .500 for the first time this season and carry a six game winning streak into this week's action. This will be the only away game of the week as the Road Warriors will have a three game home stretch from Thursday through Sunday.
On Thursday night Greenville welcomes Gwinnett back to the EquilifeMD Rink at the BI-LO Center for a 7 p.m. faceoff. THE ROAD WARRIORS WILL HAVE A SPECIAL PREGAME PRESENTATION HONORING DEAN STORK FOR WINNING HIS 100th CAREER GAME AS A HEAD COACH. Gwinnett won both games in the home and home series last weekend and have a 3-1-1 record against the Road Warriors this season. The Road Warriors present GUYS NIGHT OUT with $2 BEERS, HOT DOGS, PRETZELS AND FOUNTAIN DRINKS. Pro Golfer Jay Haas will be on the concourse signing autographs beginning at 6 p.m. Fans can also enjoy free professional massages from Massage Therapist Angela Jackson, and test out their Mini-Golf skills on the concourse.
South Carolina will come into town Friday night for a 7 p.m. faceoff. Hockey Happy Hour returns from 5-7 p.m. with FREE FOOD COURTESY OF FORD'S OYSTER HOUSE, DISCOUNTED DRINKS, AND ENTERTAINMENT COURTESY OF ABC PARTY RENTALS AND MY 102.5! School Choirs will perform holiday favorites during the first intermission and the first 1,000 fans receive a free Road Warriors Santa Hat courtesy of Fox Carolina and MY 102.5.
The weekend will wrap-up on Sunday afternoon with Gwinnett returning to play the Road Warriors for the fourth time in ten days. Puckdrop is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday is Family Fun Day. Fans who present their BI-LO Bonuscard at the Box Office can receive up to four free tickets in the BI-LO Family Fun Section while supplies last. AFTER THE GAME, FANS CAN ENJOY A POST GAME SKATE WITH THE ROAD WARRIORS PLAYERS!
Streaks and Stats
-Nathan Lieuwen leads rookie goaltenders in minutes (996) and saves (449).
-Steven Delisle is tied for first in the Eastern Conference in +/- with a +13 rating.
-Andrew Yogan has scored four goals in five-games as a Road Warrior.
-Bretton Cameron tied his career high with a five game point streak that was snapped on Saturday night.
Transactions
The Road Warriors released forward Matt Schepke this week. The Warren, Michigan native appeared in seven contests with two assists and a -5 rating.
