Road Warriors Edge Stingrays 4-3

Greenville, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays (35-28-4-3) erased a two-goal deficit, but fell to the Greenville Road Warriors (41-23-2-4) 4-3 Tuesday night at the Bi-Lo Center.
Road Warriors forward Brandon Wong opened the scoring at 6:20 of the first period beating Stingrays goaltender Billy Sauer (L, 24 saves on 28 shots) off the right pad. Defenseman Blake Parlett and forward Bretton Cameron earned assists.
The Stingrays tied the contest on the power play with a tally from defenseman Johann Kroll at 13:06 of the second period lifting a shot between the legs of Road Warriors netminder Jason Missiaen (18 saves on 19 shots). Forwards Maxime Lacroix and Daniel Koger registered assists. At 14:13, Missiaen departed the game with an injury and was replaced by Nic Riopel (W, 11 saves on 13 shots). The Road Warriors reclaimed the lead on the man advantage at 17:28 with Wong's second of the night from Cameron and defenseman Lee Baldwin . Forward Justin Bowers made it a 3-1 Road Warriors lead on the power play with 52 seconds left in the period from forwards Marc-Olivier Vallerand and Brendan Connolly .
The Stingrays tied the contest behind third-period goals from forwards Andrew Cherniwchan and Billy Ryan . Cherniwchan grabbed his third goal of the season at 8:12 from forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien and defenseman Zach Tarkir . Ryan lit the lamp moments later at 9:51 with help from forwards Michael Dorr and Greg Stewart . Road Warriors forward Sean Berkstresser buried the game-winning marker at 15:15 from Wong and defenseman Jeff Caister . The Stingrays finished the night 1-for-4 on the power play while the Road Warriors went 2-for-7.
The Stingrays wrap up a five-game road trip on Friday, March 30 against the Road Warriors at 7:35 p.m. at the Bi-Lo Center and return to the North Charleston Coliseum for Fan Appreciation Night and The Post and Courier Hall of Fame Night on Saturday, March 31 against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m. The Stingrays are giving away seven game-worn jerseys from the 2010-11 season and there is free parking !
