Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Yannick Riendeau has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for March 19 through 25, 2012. Riendeau, a third year pro from Boucherville, Quebec, racked up eight points (3g-5a) and played to a plus-seven (+7) in three games last week. He is the second player to win the Player of the Week award this season for the Royals, joining Olivier Labelle who received the award for his performance during the week November 7 through 13, 2011.

Riendeau, who is currently riding a five game point streak (3g-8a11pts), began the week by assisting on the Royals' second goal in a 3-2 shootout win over the Trenton Titans at Sovereign Center on Friday. Riendeau also opened the Royals' bid in the skills competition that night by scoring on his attempt in the shootout. On Saturday, Riendeau racked up his second four point game of the year, scoring a pair of goals and assisting on two others-including the early goal by Denny Urban, which proved to be the game winner. Riendeau closed out the weekend with his tenth multi-point game in forty played with Reading. In his 100th game as a Royal on Sunday, he assisted on the first two goals of the game and scored the team's third goal in the team's 5-3 win over Trenton. In forty games with the Royals this season, Riendeau now has forty-one points (12g-29a).

Riendeau joins Chris Blight, Brendan Brooks, Ryan Cruthers, Stefano Giliati (twice), Ben Gordon (twice), Greg Hogeboom, Ryan Kinasewich, Olivier Labelle, Brian McCullough, Mike Pandolfo, Andrew Sarauer, Daniel Steiner, and Shay Stephenson as members of the Royals who have won the ECHL's Player of the Week Award in the eleven year history of the team.

On behalf of Yannick Riendeau, a case of pucks will be donated to a Reading youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 25,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.

The Royals return to action tomorrow (Wednesday, March 28, 2012 @ 7:05 pm) when the Wheeling Nailers make their final regular season appearance at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. It's Advertiser Appreciation Night and select draft beer will be just $2.00. Wednesday's game night broadcast will start at 6:35 pm with the Red Robin Gourmet Burger Pre-Game Warm-up Show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Reading.
