In two seasons as head coach, Bednar led the Stingrays to an 89-45-4-5 record and a Kelly Cup championship in 2009 and became one of only two individuals to win three ECHL titles. He would then be promoted to the American Hockey League, first as an assistant coach with the Abbotsford Heat (2009-10) and is now as the head coach of the Peoria Rivermen.

"I cannot think of another former player or coach who is more deserving than Jared," said Stingrays President Rob Concannon. "His contributions on and off the ice are a big reason for the success of our organization."

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound defenseman began his professional career with the Huntington Blizzard of the ECHL registering 78 points (21g, 57a) in 155 games. Prior to turning pro, Bednar skated four seasons of junior hockey with the Saskatoon Blades, Spokane Chiefs, Medicine Hat Tigers and Prince Albert Whalers.
