San Jose Reassigns Thomas Heemskerk to the Thunder from Worcester

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announced San Jose has reassigned rookie goaltender Thomas Heemskerk to the Thunder from the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League.
Before his recall to Worcester which included two games of AHL experience, the 6-foot and 195 pound goaltender collected a 13-12-0 record, .893 save percentage and 3.27 goals against average in 25 games this season for the Thunder.
He was originally assigned from Worcester on Oct. 19, 2011 and earned a win in his pro debut on Oct. 22 at Colorado with 27 saves.
Heemskerk was signed by San Jose to a standard entry level contract on September 29, 2009 and has suited up for the Sharks in the last three preseason rookie tournaments. He went 1-1-0 with a 2.19 goals against average and .929 save percentage in two games against Calgary and Winnipeg in the 2011 Vancouver Canucks YoungStars Tournament.
Heemskerk previously appeared in 179 career junior games with Moose Jaw, Everett and Kootenay of the Western Hockey League, earning a 91-58-19 record, 2.81 goals against average, .910 save percentage and nine shutouts.
In addition, the Thunder announced goaltender Shane Madolora and defenseman Matthew Clune were released from their amateur tryout agreements.
The Thunder returns to the road for its next game on Wednesday at Century Link Arena against the host Idaho Steelheads at 6:10 p.m. The game will be carried on radio at 1280 AM KWSX and online for viewing (pay-per-view video charge) and listening (free of charge) at www.StocktonThunder.com, courtesy of AmericaOne.
