
Rivermen Goaltender Michaud Named Reebok Hockey Saver of the Week

Peoria, Ill. (February 8, 2005) â Alfie Michaud of Peoria is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week for January 31-February 6.
Starting four road games in six days against North Division opponents, Michaud was 4-0-0 with a shutout, a 1.22 goals against average (GAA) and a .963 save percentage.
After making 38 saves in a 2-1 win at Trenton on Tuesday, Michaud made 37 saves in a 2-0 win at Atlantic City on Wednesday. He returned to the ice on Saturday and had 26 saves in a 2-1 win at Atlantic City, and ended the week stopping 30 shots in a 6-3 win at Johnstown on Sunday.
In his last nine games, Michaud is 8-1-0 with three shutouts, a 1.32 GAA and a .955 save percentage. In 25 games with Peoria this season, Michaud is 14-8-2 with a .931 save percentage and ranks third in the league with 2.08 GAA.
The 5-foot-10 and 177-pound Michaud was named the ECHL Goaltender of the Year in 2002-03 with Peoria after going 20-4-4 with a .927 save percentage and a 2.58 GAA. In 2003-04 in the German Elite League (Deutsche Eishockey Liga), he finished with a 2.38 GAA and a .908 save percentage in 20 games.
In his first professional season in 1999-2000, Michaud was 10-17-5 record with a 3.86 GAA and a .890 save percentage in 38 games with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League (AHL). On October 28, 1999, Michaud made his National Hockey League debut with the Vancouver Canucks, allowing four goals in a loss to the Phoenix Coyotes.

The Peoria Rivermen are a proud affiliate of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and a member of the ECHL â The Premier "AA" Hockey League. On Friday, February 11, the Rivermen host the Dayton Bombers at 7:30 p.m. at Carver Arena. It's the Third Annual Potter & Anderson Jewelers "Wedding on Ice," presented Regent Broadcasting. Five Peoria-area couples will get married on Carver Arena ice. The team will wear special Valentine's Day-themed jerseys to be auctioned immediately following the game with the proceeds benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois â Peoria Office. On Sunday, February 13, Peoria hosts the rival Johnstown Chiefs for the first time this season. Game time is 3:00 p.m. at Carver Arena. It is the third of four Peoria Journal Star/Insight Media Family Days. Kids 12 & Under receive a $2 Upper Bowl admission, and there are $2.50 Kids Meals. Scooby Doo will appear courtesy of the Cartoon Network.
