Peoria's Michaud Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Alfie Michaud of Peoria is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week for January 31-February 6.

Starting four road games in six days against North Division opponents, Michaud was 4-0-0 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 1.22 and a save percentage of .963.

After making 38 saves in a 2-1 win at Trenton on Tuesday, Michaud made 37 saves in a 2-0 win at Atlantic City on Wednesday. He returned to the ice on Saturday and had 26 saves in a 2-1 win at Atlantic City, and ended the week stopping 30 shots in a 6-3 win at Johnstown on Sunday.

In his last nine games, Michaud is 8-1-0 with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 1.32 and a save percentage of .955. In 25 games with Peoria, Michaud is 14-8-2 with a .931 save percentage and ranks third in the league with a goals-against average of 2.08.

The 5-10 and 177-pound Michaud was named the ECHL Goaltender of the Year in 2002-03 with Peoria after going 20-4-4 with a .927 save percentage and a goals-against average of 2.58 goals-against average. He played in 2003-04 in the German League, finishing with a goals-against average of 2.38 and a save percentage of .908 in 20 games.

In his first professional season in 1999-2000, Michaud was 10-17-5 record with a goals-against average of 3.86 and a save percentage of .890 in 38 games with Syracuse of the American Hockey League. On October 28, 1999, Michaud made his National Hockey League debut with the Vancouver Canucks, allowing four goals in a loss to the Phoenix Coyotes.

Runners Up: Logan Koopmans, Toledo (2-0-0, 1.50 GAA, .952 save pct.), and Joe Exter, Wheeling (3-0-0, .265 GAA, .935 save pct.).
