TRENTON, NJ (February 8, 2005) â The Trenton Titans today announced that defenseman Brian Sullivan has been suspended indefinitely. A native of Marshfield, Massachusetts, Sullivan has decided to pursue his interests outside of hockey. The Titans will retain his rights should he return to the ECHL this season.
Sullivan, 24, registered an assist and 11 penalty minutes in games with the Titans. The rookie defenseman came to the Titans after being recalled from the Florida Everblades by the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League.
In separate transactions, the Philadelphia Phantoms have recalled defenseman Stephen Wood, while defenseman Matt Libby has been loaned to the Syracuse Crunch (AHL).
Wood, under contract with Philadelphia Flyers, recorded 13 points (4g, 9a) and 33 penalty minutes in 23 games for the Titans and is second on the team scoring among defenseman. The 23-year old rookie notched the first two-goal game of his professional career in the Titans' 4-1 victory over Reading on Sunday. This is Wood's third AHL call-up of the season.
Libby, 26, receives his second call-up to the Crunch within five days. The fourth-year pro leads all Titans blueliners with 18 points (2g, 16a) over 36 games. After a four-year career at Providence College, Libby joined Trenton for his rookie season in 2001-02. That year the native of Saco, ME registered 28 points (7g, 21a) over 49 games was selected to the Northern Conference All-Star Team and the All-ECHL Rookie Team.
