Peoria, IL â Peoria's Brian McCullough tallied a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Peoria Rivermen to a 4-1 victory over the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies before 4486 at Carver Arena in ECHL action Friday. The loss drops Atlantic City into a first place tie with the Reading Royals for the top spot in the North Division with 47 points apiece.
Peoria (15-15-4) opened the scoring at 14:30 of the first period with a power play goal. Chris Bogas from the right-wing circle ripped a slap shot through traffic past a screened Bullies goaltender Jake Moreland to give the Rivermen a 1-0 lead.
Atlantic City would net the equalizer at 6:33 of the second period. Scott Horvath from the left-wing circle drew Peoria goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu out beyond his crease before sliding the puck across the slot to an open Jason Notermann who tipped it into the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1. Brian McCullough regained the lead for Peoria when he ripped a slap from the left point past Moreland who was without a stick at 18:25 of the period to send the Rivermen into the second intermission with a 2-1 advantage.
McCullough increased Peoria's lead to 3-1 with his second goal of the evening, a shorthanded tally with a tip past Moreland at 4:25 of the third period. Rejean Stringer capped the scoring with a power play goal at 12:39 to make the final count 4-1.
Peoria out-shot the Bullies 35-27. Moreland stopped 31 shots as he fell to 19-7-4. Atlantic City went 0-5 on the power play.
