Trenton Devils News Release
READING, PA - The Trenton Titans allowed four power play goals en route to an 8-5 loss against the Reading Royals in front 5,717 at the Sovereign Center
Things looked good early as Scott Bertoli gave the Titans a 1-0 lead 3:07 into the contest with his 5th power play goal of the season. After Mike Sanbeck tied the score with his first goa in a Royals' uniform, former Titans Cail MacLean put Reading on top with a power play tally at 14:06. Just 1:17. Matt Zultek would tie the score 3-3 heading into the first intermission with his eighth of the season.
With Phil Lewandowski in the box for high sticking at the end of the first stanza, Larry Courville put the Royals back up by a goal 1:27 into the second period. Reading would then extend the lead to three during a two-man advantage as Adam Borzecki bombed a slap shot past Chris Houle. Even as Andrew Allen came in as relief, the Royals were able to convert during the ensuing 5-on-4 power play when Paul Cabana tipped home his first goal for Reading.
Trenton would battle back as Lewandowski and Bertoli each tallied 1:15 apart to make the score 5-4 after two periods.
Early goals would once again doom the Titans as Nick Greenough put home Ian Turner's rebound to give Reading a two-goal cushion 1:07 in the final period. Preston Mizzi notched the backbreaker 1:57 later when stripped Matt Libby of the puck and fired past Allen for a short-handed goal and a 7-5 Royals edge.
Andrew Allen takes the loss making 14 of 17 saves. Matt Yeats raises his record to 6-1-1 despite allowing four goals on 21 shots.
