FLORENCE, SC -- Adam Elzinga tallied two goals and an assist as the Pee Dee Pride defeated the Louisiana IceGators 6-1 Friday in front of 2,528 fans at the Florence Civic Center.
Michael Chin started the scoring 7:08 into the contest, scoring his first goal since November 30. Chin got free down low, and beat Nathan Marsters for a power-play tally, the 10th straight game in which the Pride have scored a power-play goal.
Elzinga made it 2-0 with his third of the season at 12:47 of the first period.
Pee Dee scored three times in the middle period to seize control. Elzinga tallied his second of the night at 7:25, and then just 1:39 later, Gregg Johnson netted his eighth of the season to make it 4-0. Brian Collins finished the second period onslaught with his team-leading 20th of the season at 15:18.
Mark Rooneem ruined Nick Boucher's shutout bid with his eighth of the season at 8:40 of the final period.
Chad Spurr set the final with his tenth of the season at 11:10.
Spurr and Allan Sirois both extended their scoring streaks to 10 games in the win.
Pee Dee's five-game home stand wraps up tomorrow night as the Pride host the Johnstown Chiefs at 7:30 p.m. The first 2,500 fans in attendance receive free Thundersticks courtesy of First Reliance Bank.
