RiverDogs Win Game One of Doubleheader, 2-0

Charleston, S.C. - Zach Nuding held the Shorebirds to one hit over five innings and the Charleston RiverDogs bullpen did the rest in a 2-0 game one win over the Delmarva Shorebirds (42-45, 7-10). The Shorebirds did not record their first hit until the fifth inning.

In the fifth inning, the RiverDogs were first on the board. Jose Toussen was issued a one out walk. Then, Eduardo Sosa singled to advance Toussen to second. Anderson Feliz followed with a flare single into shallow right field that scored Toussen from second. Sosa also came into score as Mikey Planeta's threw back into the infield was wide of second and rolled towards the left field line.

The Shorebirds recorded back-to-back hits in the seventh before Planeta lined out to right-center to end the game.

Charleston starter Zach Nuding earned the win over five shutout innings. He allowed just one hit. Shorebirds starter Jarret Martin was pinned with the loss over five innings. He surrendered just three hits and two runs.

Charleston relievers Manny Barreda and Mark Montgomery held the Shorebirds scoreless over the final two innings.

Shorebirds reliever Ashur Tolliver tossed a scoreless sixth inning that included two strikeouts.

The Shorebirds and RiverDogs will play game two of the doubleheader at 4:40 p.m. RHP Luis Noel is the scheduled starter for Delmarva.
