Charleston RiverDogs News Release

CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston RiverDogs are proud to partner with their parent organization, the New York Yankees and locally with Lucey Mortgage for the HOPE Week Initiative. The initiative runs from June 25-29, and RiverDogs players, coaches and front office staff will make appearances throughout the Lowcountry during the five-day outreach.

This will be the fourth year in which the 27-time World Series Champion Yankees have held their HOPE Week Initiative. HOPE is the acronym for "Helping Others Persevere and Excel," and this will be the first time that the RiverDogs will bring the concept to Charleston.

"We are excited about the opportunity to partner with the New York Yankees for such a fantastic cause," said RiverDogs Director of Community Relations Lauren Allio. "It is a great way for us to continue to be active in the community and to recognize some truly amazing people."

Along with the New York Yankees, the RiverDogs are also partnering with Lucey Mortgage, a local mortgage company in Charleston that has long been a strong supporter of organ donation. The President of the company, Lorcan Lucey, was the recipient of a double lung transplant in 2007. "What better way to celebrate Charleston then a night at the ballpark and participating in the hopeful journey of those fighting the battle." said Lucey. "Together we can make a big difference."

The RiverDogs will be participating in events each day from June 25-29 to garner awareness for highlighted causes, individuals and organizations. In addition, every day over the five-day period, a different non-profit organization and/or family will receive a once-in-a-lifetime experience of interaction with RiverDogs players and an evening of fun at a RiverDogs game.

The schedule includes:

- Monday, June 25: Special Olympics/Children's Museum of the Lowcountry:

o The RiverDogs will be paying tribute to one of the area's most courageous Special Olympians by taking her on a visit the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry;
