Suns Surge Late, Win Sixth Straight

Kannapolis, NC - The Hagerstown Suns (37-23) scored four runs in the ninth inning to take their first lead of the game and hold on to beat the Kannapolis Intimidators (28-33), 6-4, at CMC-NorthEast Stadium on Friday night.

Suns starting pitcher Kylin Turnbull did not factor in the decision after a quality start, allowing two runs on six hits over six innings. Wilson Eusebio (1-0) earned the win in relief, pitching two innings and giving up two runs, while Greg Holt (1) nailed down his first save.

Hendry Jimenez's first home run of the season proved to be the game-winner, a three-run shot in the ninth inning to cap a four-run rally. Justin Miller went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, while Jason Martinson knocked in his league leading 59th run of the year in a 1-for-3 performance.

Intimidators' starter Blair Walters also took a no-decision after going seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits and nine strike outs. Reliever Bryan Blough (1-3) suffered his second consecutive loss to Hagerstown, giving up all four ninth inning runs. Leighton Pangilinan hit his third homer of the season for the Intimidators.

The Suns will continue the series in Kannapolis with game two against the Intimidators on Saturday night. RHP Taylor Hill (5-4, 3.74) will start for Hagerstown against the Intimidators' LHP Jefferson Olacio (1-3, 3.94).
