
River Rats Face Two Divisional Road Battles

Albany River Rats News Release
The Albany River Rats travel to western New York for their third meeting with the Binghamton Senators Friday night at 7:05pm. The River Rats move on to Pennsylvania for an East Division contest with the Hershey Bears on Saturday night at 7:00pm from the GIANT Center.
Albany's road game against the Philadelphia Phantoms originally scheduled for Sunday, January 11th has been re-scheduled due to a conflict with the National Football League's Philadelphia Eagles/Green Bay Packers game. The AHL game will be played on Monday, March 8, 2004 at 7:05pm, one day after an already-scheduled match with the Phantoms on March 7, 2004 at 6:05pm.
River Rats Roster Moves:
C Craig Darby and LW Tuomas Pihlman returned on loan to Albany on January 5, 2004.... RW Aleksander Suglobov recalled by New Jersey on January 5, 2004...G Matus Kostur reassigned from Columbus (ECHL) on January 2, 2004...LW Rob Skrlac cleared waivers and returned to Albany on December 31, 2003...C Craig Darby and LW Tuomas Pihlman recalled by New Jersey on December 31, 2003...G Ari Ahonen recalled by New Jersey on December 29, 2003...RW Jiri Bicek returned on loan to Albany on December 29, 2003.
Rat Bites:
RW Aleksander Suglobov scored goals in four straight and had points (5-3-8) in each of the last six games overall prior to his first NHL recall on Monday.
LW Greg Crozier notched three (1-2-3) points, including the overtime game-winner on Friday night against Lowell.
LW Tuomas Pihlman made his NHL debut for the New Jersey Devils on New Year's Day in Washington.
C Adrian Foster has five (1-4-5) points in the last four games after picking up five points in his first 20 games this season.
LW Joe Hulbig picked up his 200th AHL point on Wednesday night and has at least a point (4-3-7) in five straight games.

River Rats Rewind: Week 12 - December 22, 2003 (1-2-0-0, 2pts)
December 31st â NOR 3 @ ALB 2 â RW Aleksander Suglobov got the River Rats on the board 4:33 into the second period and added an assist on C Eric Johansson's power play goal during the third period. Norfolk RW Pavel Vorobiev totaled three (2-1-3) points, including the winner just 14 seconds after Johansson had tied the game at two.
January 2nd - LOW 3 @ ALB 4 F/OT â LW Greg Crozier posted three (1-2-3) points, including the game-winner 1:35 into the extra session as the River Rats won their first overtime game this season. LW Joe Hulbig scored twice, including his second shorthanded goal of the season, while G Scott Clemmensen stopped 26 shots for his fourth win.
January 3rd - ALB 4 @ SYR 7 â RW Aleksander Suglobov scored for the fourth straight game and LW Joe Hulbig extended his point-scoring streak to five games with two assists. Syracuse C Mark Hartigan became the first player to score four goals in a game against Albany since current River Rat LW Steve Kariya did it as a member of the Crunch back on February 8, 2000.
