Sacramento River Cats News Release
West Sacramento, Calif. - The Sacramento River Cats, along with community partners at Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, will host their 8th Annual Players' Wives Donation Drive on Sunday, August 5 at Raley Field (beginning when gates open at 6:00 PM), with this year's drive focused on the collection of diapers. The diapers will benefit families in Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services' Mother-Baby Program, which aims to sustain healthy families through mentorship, parenting education and support, and vital childcare supplies like diapers.
Wives and families of River Cats players and coaches will be at Raley Field collecting diapers and selling autographed cards of the players and coaches, with all proceeds benefiting Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services.
Since 2000, the River Cats' Wives Food Drive, started by Pam Geren (wife of former River Cats Manager and current Oakland A's Manager Bob Geren), has collected more than 28,000 pounds of food and $13,400 for local families. Last year's River Cats Wives Food Drive Event raised approximately $3,000 and 6,000 pounds of food for area families in need.
Tickets for the game are still available and can be purchased at the Raley Field ticket office or online at www.rivercats.com. For more information about the 2007 River Cats season, visit www.rivercats.com. For information on other events at Raley Field, visit www.raleyfield.com.
