Sacramento River Cats News Release

West Sacramento, Calif. - The Sacramento River Cats defeated the Fresno Grizzlies, 2-1, on Tuesday night in the 500th regular season game at Raley Field to sweep the Grizzlies in the teams' 4 game series, Sacramento's 2nd home sweep of the season. The Cats move to 74-57 and just 5 ½ games back of first place Tucson, who lost to Colorado Springs, 6-4. Left fielder Doug Clark knocked a solo shot to right field in the bottom of the 3rd inning to give the Cats a 1-run lead. With Dan Johnson batting, infielder D'Angelo Jimenez scored on a throwing error by Grizzlies catcher Justin Knoedler in the same inning, giving the Cats a 2-run lead. That would prove to be enough as Shane Komine, in just his 2nd career game against Fresno, earned the win throwing 6 shutout innings allowing just 2 hits and striking out 5 Grizzlies batters. Victor Moreno earned his 4th save of the season in dramatic fashion, retiring 3 consecutive Tucson batters after entering the game with no outs, runners on the corners and a slim 1-run lead.
