New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
The visiting New Orleans Zephyrs lost for the sixth time in eight games on Tuesday afternoon falling to the Omaha Royals 3-1. Shane Costa had three hits including a two run home run in the fifth inning for Omaha. The Z's offense was shutdown by left hander Andy Van Hekken. He worked eight innings and allowed one run on three hits and picked up the win. Zephyr outfielder George Lombard homered for the second time in two days and earned the only RBI for the Z's. New Orleans rallied in the ninth inning with two men on and no body out, when Tyrell Godwin lined into a double play and Kelly Kelly was picked off of second base. Leo Nunez earned the save. The Royals win the series 3 games to one.
Game Notes: New Orleans is 2-6 on the 13 game road-trip. The Z's have hit a home run in 10 of their last 11 games and have drilled 22 in the month of August.
Coming Up: The Zephyrs and the Iowa Cubs will begin a four game series at 7:05 at Sec Taylor Stadium .... RH Steve Watkins (6-6, 3.86) will start for New Orleans, opposed by RH Wade Miller (0-0, 4.50) of the Iowa Cubs...The former Zephyr and Astro Wade Miller will make a rehab start against the Z's.
