Sacramento River Cats News Release

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Sacramento River Cats spoiled the Salt Lake Bees' home opener on Friday night with a 5-3 comeback win. Before a crowd of 10,156, Sacramento overcame a 3-1 deficit behind the efforts Andrew Susac to take the win from the Bees.

In just his third game back after missing three due to a bruise on his throwing hand, Susac paced the River Cats offense, going 3-4 with two doubles, a walk, and two runs scored as the number three hitter in the lineup. He raised his batting average from .250 to .350 with the effort. Susac was backed by the River Cats' four and five hitters - Adam Duvall and Jarrett Parker - in the victory, as the trio combined to go 7-13 with three doubles, two walks, three runs and an RBI.

The Bees jumped out to an early lead, going ahead 2-0 with runs in the first and second innings against Sacramento's starter Jake Dunning. Dunning flirted with disaster in the early innings, twice loading the bases but escaping with just three earned runs allowed. Dunning finished his night with three runs on eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings.

The River Cats first got on the board in the top of the fourth inning when Ehire Adrianza hit his first home run of the season out to right field, cutting the Bees lead to 2-1. Salt Lake added their third run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by centerfielder Daniel Robertson.

Sacramento got two more in the sixth on an RBI double by Duvall and on a double play ground ball by John Bowker to tie the game. They would add their fourth run in the eighth inning on Bowker's RBI single and another in the ninth on a sacrifice bunt by Adrianza and an error on the Bees' second basemen Alex Yarbrough.

The bullpen was again flawless for Sacramento. Cody Hall tossed three strong innings in relief, striking out three and allowing just one hit while picking up the win. Clay Rapada and Curtis Partch tag-teamed the ninth inning, with Partch closing out the game for his first save of the season.

Game two of the series is set for tomorrow at 5:35 p.m. PT. The River Cats will start RHP Austin Fleet. Fleet is the newest member of Sacramento's roster, having just joined the team from Double-A Richmond. The start will be his first of the year, as he began the season on the disabled list for Richmond. In 11 Double-A starts in 2014, Fleet was 8-1 with a 2.78 ERA. The Bees starter is still TBA.
