GAME RECAP: Redbirds & Express Suspended Due to Rain

April 17, 2015 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Memphis Redbirds News Release

ROUND ROCK, Tex. - Friday night's scheduled series opener between the Memphis Redbirds and Round Rock Express at the Dell Diamond has been suspended due to rain and unplayable field conditions, with the Express leading 3-1 with one out in the bottom of the second inning.

The two teams will resume the nine-inning game at 1:05 pm CT on Sunday afternoon as part of a doubleheader. It will be followed by a seven-inning game.

Memphis jumped in front 1-0 in the top of the first as leadoff man Dean Anna doubled down the right field line to get things started. Anna moved to third on a Ty Kelly sacrifice and came around to score on an Ed Easley base hit.

Redbirds starter Zach Petrick was unable to retire the first three Round Rock batters in the next frame, which culminated with a Michael Choice three-run homer to dead center.

Memphis and Round continue their series at 6:05 pm CT on Saturday night at the Dell Diamond. Left-hander Tyler Lyons (0-1, 9.00) toes the rubber for Memphis against Round Rock righty-hander Chi Chi Rodriguez (0-1, 3.60).
