Sacramento River Cats News Release

TACOMA, WA - The Sacramento River Cats (1-2) and Tacoma Rainiers (2-1) played a seven-inning game as part of scheduled double-header due to a weather postponement from April 7. In a back and forth game, the Rainiers' John Andreoli hit a walk-off home run in the seventh inning to hand the River Cats a 7-6 defeat. The second game of tonight's doubleheader was postponed until Monday evening.

The River Cats scored two runs in the top of the first inning thanks a trio of doubles from Austin Slater, Mac Williamson, and Kyle Jensen. Alen Hanson provided a spark from the bottom of the order, going three-for-four with two doubles and two RBI. Mac Williamson continued his hot hitting going two-for-three with one RBI.

Tyler Herb had a rocky start throwing just three innings and surrendering five earned runs on eight hits, four walks, and one strikeout. Andreoli's walk-off home run finished off an excellent day at the plate as he went three-for-five with two runs and two RBI.

The River Cats and Rainiers will once again attempt to play a double-header tomorrow. The twin bill will feature Sacramento right-handers Chris Heston (0-0, No ERA) and Jose Flores (0-0, No ERA) against Tacoma righties Lindsey Caughel (0-0, No ERA) and Max Povse (0-0, No ERA). First pitch for game one is set for 5:05 p.m. (PT) and the game can be heard live online at rivercats.com and on the air on Money 105.5 FM.

Additional Notes

The River Cats hit well with runners in scoring position on Sunday, going five-for-16 (.313) and are now hitting 10-for-37 (.270) in those clutch situations this season.

Steven Okert provided a nice inning in relief by striking out the side in the fifth. Six of the seven outs he has recorded on the young season have come by way of the strikeout.

Hanson, Williamson, and Jensen were a combined seven-for-eleven each with a run and at least one RBI.
