GENEVA, Ill. - Edinson Rincon drove a grand slam just over the left-field wall Wednesday at Elfstrom Stadium to propel the TinCaps to a 4-2 victory over the Kane County Cougars. RHP Nick Schumacher slammed the door for his 12th save.

TinCaps pitchers held Kane County to just four hits, one night after the Cougars pounded out 21 hits. LHP Mike Watt threw the ball well but didn't figure in the decision.

Watt battled out of trouble in the 1st, inducing a key double-play ball. In the 3rd, Myrio Richard ripped a one-out single and scored an unearned run thanks to an errant throw on a comebacker to the mound.

Fort Wayne trailed by the 1-0 margin until the top of the 8th. Cougars LHP Max Peterson walked the bases loaded. With two outs, Rincon lifted a 1-0 pitch that just cleared the wall in left for a grand slam, giving the TinCaps a 4-2 lead.

The Cougars bounced back with a run of their own in the bottom of the 8th thanks to an RBI single by Tyreace House. With runners at second and third and two outs, RHP Hayden Beard was summoned from the bullpen and fanned Leonardo Gil to end the threat.

Schumacher allowed a leadoff single to Max Stassi in the 9th, but retired the next three batters in succession to end the game.

LHP Jose De Paula (2-1) was the winner, allowing a run in 2.2 innings. Peterson (1-2) took the loss and Schumacher scooped up his 12th save.

The TinCaps got back to .500 at 30-30. Kane County fell to 27-33.

The TinCaps finish the three-game series against the Cougars (Class-A Oakland Athletics) Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Fort Wayne RHP Daniel Sarria (1-1) makes the start against Cougars LHP Ian Krol (3-2).
